Brian Eno was greatly influences differ greatly from classical to rock. He got a lot of his early musical influence from the early rhythm and blues music. In general Eno really took interest in sound in general. His album Another Green World, is an ambient album written in 1975. It utilizes many different electronic textures, and instruments. This album still has a very poppy feel however. On the other hand Music for Airports, another of Eno’s albums is Much more spacey feeling, and really shows the ambient music concept. His utilization of lush textures and long delays is much different then Another Green world. Eno’s overall concept was much different than many musicians of his time, and his utilization of synthesis really allowed him to create what he was trying to create. The long delays in his ambient music really create a feeling of large space. I feel as though Eno’s Music really captures a way of allowing the listener to create his or her own ideas, and feelings behind the music that he has created. Due to the ambient nature of his work it leaves a very open ended interpretation as to what Eno was trying to convey to the listener. His use of Electronic Instrumentation also in my opinion gives him more opportunity to take something that is common sounding and make it very different. I can also see how his Ideas and work have helped to push forward more open themed music that is not necessarily carrying any meaning. I think many of his ideas can be seen in the albums he has worked on for other artists. While they are still pop albums, you can hear the ability of Eno to bring in some of his own ideas, this in many ways makes the songs he worked on more interesting.
